Robert Lamarche

Robert Lamarche, also a journalist, is a self-taught artist; he does photography, etching, drawing, and sculpture.

"The decomposition -- or fragmentation -- of objects in their simplest expression is at the heart of my work. There are no more silhouettes, constructions, or recognizable places. A sequence of shapes and colors which merge or juxtapose themselves, recalling vaguely their origins... bringing us back to the beginning of the world, with molten matter... paradoxically, it is also the perilous jump in the future and its unreasonable structures. The ore, the granite with quartz piercing through, the sediment filled with fossilized history, all that is earth and rock, all that is in the rough, is constantly present in my work, and constitutes in a way a memory of the essential." - Robert Lamarche
