Born May 3rd, 1952 in St-Jean, Ile d'Orléans, Quebec.
Jean-Marie Giguére has perfected a glassmaking technique that helps him achieve his highest goals, i.e. cutting and polishing solid glass using a punty rod, incorporating inclusions of colour and copper elements. Stange characters emerge within his monoliths and float in timeless space. They reveal an "interior world, representing humanity", and are both translucent and opaque, evoking myths and symbols that are the legacy of past civilizations. The time Jean-Marie devotes to polishing a piece by hand, clarifying the glass, and revealing the worlds it contains, brings us back to his primary intention- the meditation of humankind's inner debates and belief systems.
