Born in 1945 in Kénogami. Denise Baillargeon obtained her bachelor's degree in education and went on to teach at the primary school level, specializing in visual arts. She became interested in painting in 1960 and began studying drawing, watercolor, visual arts and painting. Since that time, she has become a member of the Charlesbourg artistic society and has participated in both solo and group exhibitions.
Despite having founded the "Arts et Artisanats" event in Lac Beauport, she abandoned art in 1980 to devote herself to her family, studying and teaching. It was not until 1990 that she returned to art and to studies in visual arts and painting at the Université Laval and the Musée de Québec. 1995 marked the beginning of her evolution towards acrylic through intensive studies with the well-known Canadian artist Dominique Boisjoli who now resides in the United States. During that same year, she exhibited at the A Leap of Art gallery in Austin, Texas. She took intensive courses in New Mexico in 1996 and in Florida in 1997. Le Portal Art Gallery exhibited her work from 1996 to 1998 and, in 1999, it was la Société Artistique de Charlesbourg. In 1997, she ceased teaching in order to devote herself entirely to painting.
