Claire Poire

Claire Poiré is a teacher, a pharmacist and artist. She was born on February 28th, 1950, in Thedford Mines.

“My sculptures are drawings in space, where I let my subconscious take a line for a walk, to quote the artist Paul Klee. The materials I use enable spontaneity, which helps trigger new ideas and shapes.”

Bronze particularly appeals to Poiré, as it radiates strength and stability, all the while being infinitely plastic. “Bronze has the ability to reliably transmit the smallest details,” explains the artist. “It is a material that evolves with time.” To model matter and to be modeled by it; Inventing spaces to express thoughts, feelings or sensations: This is the essence of my approach.
