Christina Coleman was born in Ireland, in 1934, moving to Canada only two years later.
“For thirty years, I was a soloist dancer for numerous dance companies, national and international. I am now a painter. Constant research in movement, while a dancer, in order to represent what I considered important, now contributes to my pictorial space. The elements in my images are movement, rhythm, space, color … and the human body which have precedence on everything. My portraits are not descriptive photographs of Man, they are my own characters. I see the human body as a language, I read it, it talks to me, I paint it.”
